Bizarre newly-released military footage of ‘jellyfish UFO’ is leaving experts stunned (2024)

A video of a 'jellyfish UFO' flying over a military base in Iraq allegedly captured by US forces is baffling experts.

The footage was recorded in 2018 but was only just publicly released and also acts as part of a documentary called TMZ Presents: UFO Revolution.

Within the three-part event, filmmaker and ufologist Jeremy Corbell unveils the footage and questions what the unidentified object (UFO) - or unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) - could really be and what the sighting could mean. Prepare to do a double take:

Corbell said in an X post sharing the footage: "Today we release the RAW footage of a military filmed UAP incursion within a United States joint operations base. This UAP of unknown origin displayed transmedium capability - and has been officially designated by the United States intelligence agencies as a UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). This designation is currently maintained."

The apparent leaked footage shows a black and white grainy aerial image of an air base in Iraq.

You can see a gangly shaped object towards the right side of the screen, making its way over the top of the airbase fading as it does - the shape looking like some sort of jellyfish.

The video tracks the weird object for an impressive 54 seconds - there's no denying something looks like it's there.

The question is, what do the experts think it is?

Former Ministry of Defence UFO investigations desk leader, Nick Pope, tells Metro he's 'fairly confident' the footage is 'authentic,' noting Corbell has released UFO footage in the past and it's been genuine, making him a reliable source for such content.

But what does he think it all means and does the video really show a sign of aliens?

Well, Pope notes the footage is certainly 'intriguing' and 'hard to categorise'.

He addresses theories such as whether or not the apparent object is just 'a tangled mass of balloons drifting in the wind' or if it could just be 'dirt on the lens or on the protective glass around the camera'.

"However, if the allegation that there’s footage of this object entering a body of water, reemerging and shooting off at high speed with a change of direction is true, then this would rule out such prosaic explanations.

"We’ll have to wait and see if this further footage emerges, if it’s verifiably part of the same incident, and if the Pentagon confirms the authenticity of the footage," Pope adds.

And it's not just the US who Pope thinks will need to comment on the video either.

Pope notes the base where the 'jellyfish UFO' is seen flying over was not just a US airbase but 'apparently a multinational air base'.

"So it would be interesting to know whether there was a UK presence, whether the MoD has any information on this incident, and whether UK military surveillance systems have captured UAP images in other locations worldwide," he adds.

So, what do you think?

Department of Defense spokesperson Sue Gough told UNILAD:

"We do not comment on the authenticity of alleged DOD material that may have been leaked. DOD takes public interest in unidentified anomalous phenomena seriously and is committed to openness and accountability to the American people.

"This commitment must be balanced with the department’s obligation to protect sensitive information, sources, and methods. To that end, AARO will provide updates to the public via its website as it resolves UAP cases, including sharing the analytic approach and method used for each case, as well as imagery, when approved for public release.

"The Department of Defense takes the potential unauthorized disclosure of national security information very seriously. DOD organizations, including AARO, regularly emphasize to their workforces the importance of protecting national security information in accordance with information security laws, regulations, and processes."

UNILAD has contacted the Ministry of Defence for comment.
