Charles W. Seiler
Charles William Seiler, 74, of 10425 Sharpsburg Pike, Hagerstown, died Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at Washington County Hospital.
Born April 16, 1923, in Hopwood, Pa., he was the son of the late Edgar D. and Emma Coates Seiler.
He retired from Mack Trucks in 1986.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served during World War II and on occupation duty in Sasebo, Japan.
He was an alumnus of Ford Trade School.
He was a member of Hagerstown Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marjorie M. Seiler; two daughters, Sharon R. Roy of Troy, N.Y., and Carol Stotlemyer of Hagerstown; one son, Douglas A. Seiler of Centreville, Va.; one sister, Edna Mucci of Hopwood; two brothers, Frank Seiler and Jim Seiler, both of Hopwood; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
The Rev. Richard McGough will officiate.
Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown.
Visitation will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary I. Baker
Mary I. Baker, 40, of 1912 Day Road, Hagerstown, who died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, is survived by her father, Leroy Hose of Fairplay; her husband, Donald W. Baker; one daughter, Tammy Sellers of Hagerstown; one sister, Martha Hose of Hagerstown; three brothers, Roy Hose Jr. of Laurel, Md., Russell "Tiny" Hose of Sharpsburg, and Leroy "Buck" Hose of Clear Spring; and one grandson.
Bruce E. Matteson
Bruce E. Matteson, 37, of Jefferson Boulevard, Hagerstown, died Monday, April 14, 1997, at his home.
Born May 31, 1959, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Harold E. Matteson of Elmira, N.Y., and Mary Jane Matteson of Greensburg, Pa.
He was a former employee of Allegheny Power Co.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Laura Peters of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Memorial services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
Reginald Mitchell will officiate.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing.
The family requests the omission of flowers.
Lena M. Booth
ORLANDO, Fla. - Lena Maxine Booth, 82, of Country View Terrace, Orlando, died Monday, April 14, 1997, in Orlando.
Born March 3, 1915, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Irene Trumpower Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Booth, in 1987.
They were married in 1932.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
She was a life member of Ladies of Elks 378, Hagerstown, and was an organizer of the group in 1965.
She was president for two terms, from 1967 to 1969.
She also was a member of AARP.
She is survived by one daughter, Maxine Slack of Orlando; one son, James A. Booth of Smithsburg; two sisters, Jean Banks of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Janice Carbaugh of New Holland, Pa.; two brothers, Donald Bennett of Longwood, Fla., and Robert Bennett of Waynesboro, Pa.; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Happel and Ruth Feigley; and two brothers, Paul Bennett and Roy Bennett.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
The Rev. David B. Kaplan will officiate.
There will be no viewing.

James B. Stockslager
James B. Stockslager, 76, of 18439 Woodside Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at his home.
Born Nov. 26, 1920 in Sharpsburg, he was the son of the late Henry Paul and Mary Margaret Mongan Stockslager.
He was a 1938 graduate of Boonsboro High School and a 1940 graduate of Columbia Business College, Hagerstown.
He was employed by Maryland Correctional Institution, Hagerstown, as the employees training officer, retiring in 1973 after 25 years of service.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a life member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg, where he was a former member of the vestry and served in other capacities.
He was a member of Medairy Lodge 140, A.F.&A.M., Williamsport; Forest 95 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Hagerstown; BPO Elks Lodge 378, Hagerstown; Antietam Post 36 American Legion, Sharpsburg; Maryland Classified Employees Association and AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Orpha M. Mumma Stockslager, whom he married June 12, 1954; one sister, B. Marie Gladhill of Hagerstown; and one brother, I. Paul Stockslager of Sharpsburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Natalie S. Adams; and two brothers, Robert M. Stockslager and B. Lee Stockslager.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sharpsburg.
The Rev. Jack S. Scott will officiate.
Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro.

Alfred A. Hostler
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Alfred Allen "Nipper" Hostler, 55, of Grapes Trailer Court, died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at Integrated Health Services of West Virginia, Charles Town.
Born Feb. 16, 1942, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Forrest Earl and Margaret Elizabeth Ott Hostler.
He retired from William A. Hazel Construction Co., Virginia.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by seven sisters, Josephine "Jodie" Longerbeam and Irene Seal, both of Ranson, W.Va., Emma Lee Virts of Lucketts, Va., Ellen Biggs and Mary Margaret McDaniel, both of Charles Town, Judy Cornell of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Wilma Lee Hostler of Martinsburg, W.Va.; three aunts; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin A. Hostler and Carl Kenneth "Kenny" Hostler.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
The Rev. Henry Fisher will officiate.
Burial will be in Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.

Clifford G. Marx
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Clifford Gustavus Marx, 90, of Berkeley Springs, and formerly of Mountain Home, Ark., died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, Va.
Born March 3, 1907, in Denver, he was the son of the late William J. and Alma Heine Marx.
He attended the University of Illinois.
He worked for International Harvester Co. for 47 years, primarily as comptroller in the main office in Chicago.
He retired in 1968, and moved to Mountain Home, where he lived for 25 years before moving to Berkeley Springs.
He was a member of AARP; the National Officers Managers Association and the National Association of Cost Accountants, both of Chicago.
He was an executive with Goodwill Industries, Evansville.
He was a member and past president of the International Harvester Retirees Association, Mountain Home.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eugenie Marie Peterson Marx; one daughter, Valerie A. Stutts of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Dr. Howard H. Marx of Sun City Center, Fla.; two grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union St., Berkeley Springs.
The Rev. John S. Ledford will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Wilma L. Hyson
INWOOD, W.Va. - Wilma Lee Hyson, 44, of Inwood, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, in Morgan County, W.Va.
Born May 4, 1952, in Green Spring, W.Va., she is the daughter of Marlene C. Hyson of Oldtown, Md.
She was employed by Aker Plastics in Martinsburg, W.Va.
She previously was employed by Doubleday Publishers in Berryville, Va., where she was twice honored for her work as a security guard.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Misty Dawn Hyson of Inwood; two sisters, Roxanne Ward of Romney, W.Va., and Lena M. Shaffer of Paw Paw, W.Va.; one brother, Thomas F. Ullery Jr. of Romney; grandmother, Geraldine Seeders of Green Spring; one aunt and one uncle.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Clarence T. Seeders; and one uncle.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Shaffer Funeral Home, 230 E. Main St., Romney.
The Rev. Norman Landis will officiate.
Burial will be in Forest Glen Cemetery in Green Spring.
